Wednesday, July 25th, 2012 Nexus Management spent last week at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts attending HostingCon 2012. Approximately 2000 people from 30 different countries attended the 8th Annual Hosting Convention. We experienced everything we could. We discovered some cutting edge technologies to utilize. And we got some quality face time with some of our existing clients and partners in attendance.
We also attended every educational session we could, and we’re glad to say that many were quite informative. For those who were unable to make it to HostingCon this year here are links to summaries of each session from thewhir.com.

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 Cloud computing technologies have been around for a while (Nexus has been using cloud technology for years), and although the cloud has been getting a lot of press recently we’re finding that too many people still do not really understand what the cloud is about. So we decided to provide a brief explanation and breakdown the different cloud models.
Today the term cloud generally means ubiquitous access. Most cloud services are accessible via a web browser or app; so you have the same level of access regardless of your location or even device. Clouds are offered in several varieties depending on control versus efficiency, and the service that the cloud is providing.

While the term ‘cloud’ is relatively new, the technology is an evolution of virtualization, utility computing and other technologies. Cloud computing as a concept has actually been around since the 1960s.
Widespread adoption of cloud computing, resulting from developing technology and increasing needs for efficiency, has sparked the interest of many businesses. But many still do not fully understand cloud computing and are burdened by misconceptions. Hopefully these misconceptions will be cleared up below.
