Online users have become accustomed to using simple and generic passwords for online services for various reasons. Using secure passwords is essential to maintaining security and privacy in the work place as well as in our personal lives.
Recent studies show that our passwords too easy to guess and susceptible to brute force attacks. The tendency is to leave them around for prying eyes to find, and we often use identical passwords and user names across multiple sites and services. Thursday, August 11th, 2011 Spam has decreased dramatically since this time last year and while security experts are citing various reasons, one thing they all seem to agree on is not to let your guard down.
Sure several notorious botnets are out of the picture and authorities are cracking down on hackers as well, but as security evolves so do the threats. At the same time we are experiencing a decline in botnet spam we are also seeing an increase in other malicious internet security attacks. This may be explained by simple economics; it could be that scammers are busy deploying a more profitable scamming campaign as you read this.
